8MSC6X.R0-X400-2 is an IP64 rated servo motor. Salient features of B&R 8MS motors include premium NdFeB magnets, three-phase windings, sinusoidal commutation, higher overload capacity, low torque ripple, long operating life, preloaded ball bearings, dual connections, and ACOPOS drive control. Only the bearings on these motors suffer from wear during operation. All other motor parts are maintenance-free. Connection of 8MS synchronous motors to the power mains is not allowed. The motors must get 400 Volts AC power from an ACOPOS drive. The motor surface temperature can reach 100 ⁰C. Therefore, operators must take necessary precautions to prevent accidental contact with the motor surface. Surface cooled motors like the 8MSC6X.R0-X400-2 motor must be installed on the flange, which is the cooling surface. The fan module on this motor requires 230 Volts AC external power.

Power draw of the fan is 18 Watts and its protection class is IP20. The fan has a lifespan that depends on the ambient temperature. Lower ambient temperatures enable higher operating lifespan and higher temperatures lead to a lower lifespan. Operators must ensure that the inlet and outlet of the fan are unobstructed and the heated air at the outlet does not circulate back to the area close to the inlet. A BRX resolver on the motor provides feedback to the ACOPOS drive. The shaft on the 8MSC6X.R0-X400-2 motor is smooth and does not feature an oil seal. A holding brake provides protection from accidental shaft movement. The brake is designed to allow shaft movement after it receives a release signal from the servo drive. Nominal speed rating of the motor is 4500 RPM. The rated motor torque is 13 Nm and the peak output torque is 77 Nm.
