The 8MSA3L.R0-42 is a three-phase synchronous servo motor produced by B & R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. Intended for integration with compatible AC servo drives, the unit transforms electrical energy into precise rotary motion for indexing tables, carton formers, and ancillary axes in automated production lines. Its internal BRX resolver provides the drive with the rotor angle needed for real-time vector control during positioning and speed regulation tasks. This feedback allows the controller to monitor shaft movement and correct deviations as operating loads change.
The motor has a size 3 frame with a smooth exterior housing that relies on self-cooling, so no external fan or liquid circuit is required to remove heat from the stator. The rotor operates at a nominal speed of 6000 rpm, while the winding has a large relative rated torque class that supports rapid acceleration of mid-mass loads. During installation, the shaft can withstand axial press forces of up to 200 N, allowing a gearbox or coupling to be installed without damaging the internal bearings. Output power is transmitted through a smooth shaft end, which accommodates clamp collars or interference-fit hubs. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so an external holding mechanism may be necessary when a load must remain stationary after power is removed. The BRX transducer maintains signal nonlinearity within ±1 angular minute, supporting consistent phase alignment during controlled motion. Its absolute accuracy remains within ±10 angular minutes across the operating range. These accuracy limits allow the drive to calculate rotor position from the resolver signals while regulating torque, velocity, and shaft position.
