Product Description:
The 8MSC5L.R0-D200-2 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B & R Automation within the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. It is used as a drive element in industrial automation systems that require precise speed regulation and position control. By synchronizing rotor rotation with the stator field, the motor delivers consistent torque across its operating range, making it suitable for packaging lines, pick-and-place units, and indexing tables. Its synchronous operation also supports repeatable movement when paired with a compatible servo drive and motion controller.
The motor’s nominal shaft speed is 3000 rpm, providing a reference point for pairing it with a compatible servo drive. The motor has a large relative rated torque, indicating a torque class toward the upper end of the 8MS platform for size 5 motors. Thermal management relies on a separately cooled design, so an external airflow source removes heat rather than a self-ventilation system. Power and feedback conductors exit the housing at the top of the frame, simplifying cable routing when the unit is mounted low in a machine base. The unit is supplied without a holding brake, so mechanical locking or drive torque must secure the load when power is removed. No oil seal is installed at the shaft. The cylindrical body corresponds to motor length L and size 5 dimensions, providing the physical proportions associated with this model.
Rotor position is measured by a resolver, and the motor uses the BRX resolver type from B & R. Its transfer characteristic has a nonlinearity of ±1 angular minute, while overall precision across one electrical revolution remains within ±10 angular minutes. A smooth shaft end supports direct connection to hub-style clamping devices or backlash-free bellows couplings. Because the shaft has no keyway, the selected coupling must provide sufficient clamping force to transfer motor torque without slipping. Resolver feedback supplies the connected drive with rotor-angle information for closed-loop speed and position regulation.
