Product Description:
The 8MSA4M.E3-86 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B&R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. It serves as a drive element in automated machinery that requires precise speed regulation and multi-turn position feedback. The motor can support synchronized axes, controlled conveyor motion, and other applications that rely on accurate rotary movement. Its feedback system allows a compatible motion controller to monitor the shaft position and correct deviations during operation.
The motor reaches a nominal speed of 6000 rpm, allowing it to support fast positioning cycles in pick-and-place equipment or packaging lines. Its IP65 protection rating shields the stator and encoder from dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. The self-cooling design dissipates winding heat through the housing and surrounding air without requiring external forced ventilation. When power is removed, an integrated brake clamps the shaft with 8 Nm of torque to hold stationary loads. Position information is captured by an encoder that provides 32 lines per revolution, while internal electronics increase the effective count used by the drive. This arrangement supports accurate feedback across the motor’s operating speed range.
The encoder uses EnDat Inductive technology and has a signal bandwidth of at least 6 kHz at the -3 dB point. This bandwidth allows the controller to sample feedback at high speed without reducing position accuracy. Multi-turn tracking covers 4096 revolutions, preserving the recorded shaft position across a large operating range and reducing the need for reference runs after a power interruption. Power and feedback connectors are mounted on the A side to accommodate in-line cable routing. The motor has a smooth cylindrical shaft that connects directly to friction or collet couplings. Size 4 stator laminations and motor length M provide a medium rated torque classification that balances rotor inertia with continuous output. An oil seal prevents lubricant from migrating along the shaft, while a factory-fitted seal ring closes the housing interface against contaminants.
