Classified as size 4 with an L-length stator, the unit delivers continuous torque to servo axes in pick-and-place stations, packaging lines, and material-handling gantries. It converts drive inverter output into mechanical rotation while maintaining precise electrical commutation for industrial positioning tasks. This operating principle supports controlled acceleration, steady rotation, and accurate stopping in automated machinery.
At a rated speed of 3000 rpm, the rotor can sustain its nominal velocity when commanded by the drive. Heat generated in the stator is dissipated through a self-cooling housing, removing the need for external blowers and allowing compact machine layouts. The integrated encoder supports signal frequencies of ≥ 100 kHz at -3 dB, so position data remain stable during high-acceleration profiles. With a base resolution of 512 lines, the feedback device delivers 2,048 discrete counts after quadrature decoding. Its angular precision of ±60″ permits tight velocity-loop bandwidths in multi-axis assemblies. The resulting feedback allows the connected drive to monitor rotor movement throughout demanding motion cycles.
The feedback system uses the EnDat protocol for digital communication between the motor and the B & R servo amplifier. Because the encoder is a single-turn device, it reports absolute position within one revolution, which is suitable for axes that establish a reference during startup. A keyed shaft end transmits torque directly to pulleys or gearboxes, and the connection plugs are oriented on the A side to support orderly cable routing inside machines. The frame corresponds to Motor Size 4, providing relatively high rated torque for midrange payloads. The motor does not include an internal holding brake, so an external method is required if a load must remain stationary after power is removed. It also does not include an oil seal, making it suitable for cleanroom or enclosed-gearhead installations where the shaft is not exposed to oil or other contaminants.
