The 8MSA2M.R0-43 is a three-phase synchronous motor from B & R Automation, supplied within the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. Designed for integration into packaging, handling, and general automation equipment, the unit converts inverter current into controlled mechanical rotation for precise speed and position tasks. Resolver feedback and a medium torque class allow the machine controller to execute repeatable moves and maintain axis stability under changing loads.
The motor reaches a rated speed of 6000 rpm, establishing the upper continuous operating limit for shaft velocity. Heat is dissipated through a self-cooling housing that relies on natural convection, eliminating the need for external blowers. Power and feedback connectors are routed on the A-side, simplifying cable runs when the motor is mounted against right-hand panels. Rotor position is tracked by a resolver whose nonlinearity is held to ±1 angular minute, keeping electrical angle error low for tight servo loops. During assembly, the shaft can withstand up to 200 N of axial force, so press-fit couplings or pinion gears can be installed without compromising bearing life.
With a compact motor length of M and a frame classified as motor size 2, the unit offers favorable inertia for mid-range motion profiles. Its relative rated torque is medium, matching applications that require moderate acceleration and a steady continuous load. Torque is transmitted through a keyed shaft end, enabling straightforward coupling with standard bushings or pulleys. Feedback durability is enhanced by the resolver’s BRX construction, which tolerates temperature variation and electrical noise common in factory environments. The design omits a holding brake and oil seal, so an external clamping device may be needed when the shaft must remain stationary after motor power is removed.
