Product Description:
The 8MSA2M.R0-45 is a three-phase synchronous motor produced by B & R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. Intended for compact servo axes in packaging, material-handling, and assembly systems, it delivers controlled rotary motion when paired with the manufacturer’s inverters and contributes to precise positioning in modern industrial automation. Its mechanical layout follows the IEC flange pattern common to multi-axis frames, allowing direct coupling to gearboxes or timing pulleys.
At its nominal operating point, the rotor reaches 6000 rpm, enabling short cycle times without sacrificing accuracy. An integrated brake supplies 1.8 Nm of holding torque, preventing load drift when power is removed. Thermal energy is dissipated through a self-cooling stator housing, removing the need for external fans and keeping the motor’s dimensions unchanged. Position feedback is generated by a resolver with the BRX resolver type; this analog sensor provides high immunity to electrical noise and supports reliable commutation. During installation, thrust of up to 200 N can be applied along the shaft axis without damaging the bearings, simplifying the press-fit attachment of couplings or pinions.
Power and feedback conductors exit on the A-side, keeping cable bundles away from adjacent equipment in tight machine layouts. Mechanical output is provided by a keyed shaft end, delivering positive torque transfer to pulleys or gears without relying on friction alone. The motor has a Size 2 frame with the medium length code M, providing a balanced ratio between torque density and overall weight. For alignment tasks, the resolver exhibits nonlinearity of only ±1 angular minute, while its overall precision of ±10 angular minutes supports synchronized multi-axis operation. The motor has medium relative rated torque and no oil seal, making it suitable for clean, dry environments where shaft contamination is minimal.
