Product Description:
The 8MSA5X.R0-D30C-1 is a three-phase synchronous motor built by B&R Automation and supplied in the 8MS Three-Phase Synchronous Motors series. Designed for closed-loop inverter control, it delivers repeatable rotary motion so that indexing tables, gantry axes, and high-speed fillers maintain precise timing in automated lines. By combining permanent-magnet excitation with compact stator windings, the motor supplies constant torque over a wide frequency band, allowing its output to match changing mechanical load demands without requiring mechanical gear changes.
The drive reaches a rated speed of 3000 rpm, providing the maximum continuous shaft velocity under nominal voltage and frequency. To move heavy or fast-accelerating loads, it has an extra-large relative rated torque classification, indicating higher continuous torque than other size 5 models. Heat is removed through a self-cooling housing, so no external fan or liquid cooling loop is needed. Power, feedback, and brake conductors exit the housing upward because the connection interface is located at the top of the frame. Rotor position is measured by a resolver, which provides analog sine-cosine feedback to the drive controller even in high-vibration environments. The motor has a size 5 frame and length code X, giving it a standard flange pattern with an extended stack. The unit is supplied without a holding brake, so an external device is required when a load must remain stationary after power is removed. It is also built without an oil seal, and additional external sealing may be needed when the shaft passes through contaminated areas.
The resolver has a nonlinearity of ±1 angular minute, keeping electrical displacement within that range over one electrical revolution. Its absolute precision across multiple turns is ±10 angular minutes. The sensor is type BRX, making it compatible with B&R servo drives that use the corresponding excitation pattern. Mechanical power is transmitted through a keyed shaft end, providing positive engagement with pulleys or rigid couplings in motion assemblies. This shaft interface helps prevent relative rotation between the motor shaft and a properly fitted driven component under changing torque loads.
