Product Description:
The 8MSA5X.R0-D300-1 synchronous motor is manufactured by B&R Automation and belongs to the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. It is intended for servo axes that require precise velocity and position control in automated machinery. By converting three-phase electrical power directly into rotary motion, the unit delivers consistent torque for packaging lines, indexing tables, and material-handling stations while keeping mechanical layouts compact.
Power and feedback conductors exit from the top of the housing, simplifying vertical cable routing inside control cabinets. The laminated stator dissipates heat through a self-cooling enclosure, so external fans are unnecessary and cabinet airflow stays clean. The rotor has a nominal speed of 3000 rpm, and the motor provides an extra-large relative rated torque for high acceleration during demanding load cycles. A keyed shaft end transfers torque to couplings without slippage. The motor has a size 5 frame and a length code of X, while the drive’s current limits provide electrical protection. The unit is supplied without a holding brake and does not have an oil seal, reducing mass and friction for greater dynamic response.
Position feedback relies on a resolver sensor, which provides rotor angle information while resisting electrical noise. B&R Automation uses the BRX feedback type for compatibility with the 8MS motor windings. The sensor has a nonlinearity of ±1 angular minute, while its repeatability remains within ±10 angular minutes. These values allow the associated drive to apply field-oriented control with minimal phase error, so commanded speed changes translate directly into shaft motion without noticeable lag. The resolver uses an analog signal that tolerates long cable runs, making it suitable for installations where the servo amplifier is mounted remotely from the motor. Its resistance to electrical interference also helps preserve stable feedback when power and signal cables share routing paths within industrial machinery.
