Product Description:
The 8MSA4S.R0-32 is a three-phase synchronous motor manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. It serves as the electromechanical interface between a regulated drive inverter and the connected load. The motor delivers tightly controlled rotation for automated handling, packaging, and assembly machines that require repeatable speed and positioning.
The motor uses a self-cooling housing, so airflow produced by shaft rotation removes heat without forced ventilation. Its rated speed reaches 3000 rpm, allowing continuous operation within the applicable thermal limits. An integrated holding brake develops 8 Nm of static torque to secure vertical or indexing loads whenever power is removed. Electrical and feedback connections exit on side A, allowing the cables to run parallel to the mounting face. The mechanical frame is classified as size 4, which establishes the flange dimensions and pilot diameter used within the 8MS platform. Its compact “S” length provides a small relative rated torque, making the motor suitable for applications where installation space and rotational inertia must be minimized.
Rotor position is measured by a resolver, which supplies angular feedback to the drive throughout each mechanical revolution. The installed resolver uses the BRX format from B & R, providing compatibility with the corresponding feedback interface. Its nonlinearity remains within ±1 angular minute, while total precision is ±10 angular minutes, supporting accurate servo control at high speed. The output interface uses a smooth shaft end suitable for shrink-fit couplings or compatible gearboxes. The motor does not have an oil seal, so the front bearing requires protection from contaminants in the surrounding operating area.
