The 8MSA3X.R0-30 is a three-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. It functions as the mechanical output element in servo axes, converting regulated inverter current into rotary motion for packaging, handling, and general machinery applications. Built with frame size 3 and length code X, the motor balances torque density and housing size, allowing direct mounting to gearboxes or load shafts in distributed automation layouts.
The motor has a nominal speed of 3000 rpm, providing the shaft velocity available under continuous load. It has an extra-large relative rated torque, indicating a higher continuous torque range for rapid acceleration. A self-cooling housing dissipates heat without external blowers and simplifies machine wiring. Position information is supplied through resolver feedback, which provides analog sine-cosine signals for commutation. The feedback system has an accuracy of ±10 angular minutes, while its nonlinearity remains within ±1 minute to support precise positioning. The motor has a smooth shaft, allowing couplings or pulleys to attach without the stress concentrations associated with a keyway.
During installation, the rotor can withstand an axial force of up to 200 N, helping prevent bearing damage when couplings are press-fitted. Power and feedback connectors are oriented on the A-side, simplifying cable routing in confined machine spaces. The feedback element uses a BRX resolver, which operates reliably in high-temperature areas and resists interference from electrical noise. The motor is supplied without a holding brake, so the drive or an external mechanical device must retain static loads when power is removed. It also has no oil seal, making it appropriate for dry operating areas where the shaft is not exposed to lubricants or other fluids.
