Product Description:

The B&R Automation 8MSA4M.E0-68 is a high-quality component of 8MS series of three phase Synchronous motors.

This module is of solid building consisting of steel body which is rugged and provides long term strength and structure under challenging conditions. The compact form factor of the device comes in a small package that measures 1,000 mm, 40 mm, and 34 mm in length, width, and height respectively. The module has a pitch of 4mm and is fitted with 250 teeth so it is well suited to applications where high precision linear motion and high mechanical repeatability are required. Its 50-60 HRC surface hardness ensures that the material is wear resistant and has a long operating life particularly with continuous-duty cycles. The pattern of holes compatible with M10 holes is used, which gives compatibility in mounting. This unit weighs about 12 kg, which makes it a compromise between the strength and manageability. Rotor moment of inertia is 0.008 kgm², which enables the dynamic behavior to be responsive and the motion control to be stable.

The encoder interfaces are either an EnDat single turn encoder (512 lines) or a resolver, which provides a choice of Secure options on feedback and control resolution, based on system needs. Direction of connectors can be set for top, A side and B side cable outlets, based on motor cooling type (and frame size) enabling fully customized installation and simplified cabling management. The holding brake is spring applied and integrally built so the stop is secure and position holding, when power is off, is also safe, as can be important in vertical or load-sensitive applications. Having a thermal time constant of about 60 minutes, the motor exhibits constant thermal behavior even when loaded.
