8MSA4X.E1-31 is a high-performance servo motor with extra high rated torque. It is part of the 8MS series of synchronous motors that are manufactured by Kollmorgen for industrial use. This motor has a brushless design that relies on electronic commutation. Salient 8MS motor features include permanent magnets, three-phase windings, compact dimensions, high overload capacity, very low ripple torque, sealed grooved ball bearings with long operating life, and control by ACOPOS drives. These motors must not be connected to the AC mains directly. They must be used only with an ACOPOS drive. The motor surface can reach temperatures equaling 100 degrees Celsius. Operators must take necessary precautions to protect themselves from coming into accidental contact with the surface of operating motors. 8MSA4X.E1-31 is a self-cooled motor and must be mounted on a suitable cooling surface.
An integrated 512-line multi-turn encoder supplies real-time feedback, which allows the servo drive to accurate control speed and torque of the motor. Nominal speed of the 8MSA4X.E1-31 motor is 3000 RPM. It has a keyed shaft>. without an oil seal. This type of shaft is suited to a form-fit torque transfer that places lower demands on the hub-shaft connection. 8MS motors with keyed shafts are DIN 6885-1 compliant.
