The 8MSA3M.R0-33 three-phase synchronous motor is produced by B & R Automation and belongs to the 8MS Three Phase Synchronous Motors series. It serves as a drive element for positioning and velocity control in automated machinery such as packaging lines and pick-and-place stations where compact, high-performance servo axes are required. This unit reaches a rated speed of 3000 rpm, allowing drive controllers to support high conveyor or spindle velocities without additional gear reduction.
Heat is removed through a self-cooling design, so no external fan or liquid circuit is necessary during continuous operation. During installation, the shaft can accept up to 200 N of axial force without compromising bearing life. An integrated permanent-magnet holding brake produces 4 Nm of static torque to secure vertical or oscillating loads when power is removed. Position feedback is delivered by a resolver with nonlinearity limited to ±1 angular minute, supporting smooth commutation even at low speeds. The resolver has a precision of ±10 angular minutes, maintaining incremental accuracy within typical servo loop tolerances. Its feedback signals allow the connected drive to monitor rotor position and regulate motor current throughout acceleration, steady-speed operation, and controlled deceleration.
Power and feedback connectors are oriented on the A-side, simplifying cable routing in compact machine layouts. The rotor has a keyed shaft end that transmits torque through standard couplings. With a frame designation of 3 and length code M, the stator stack balances inertia and continuous output for applications that require a medium relative rated torque without oversizing the motor. The BRX resolver provides absolute angle detection for the connected drive controller. The motor has no oil seal, so the front bearing should be protected from pressurized coolant or lubricant spray during operation. Appropriate shielding around the shaft interface can help prevent fluid from reaching the bearing while preserving access to the coupling and mounting hardware.
