The EP Digital Input Modules series is a family of Beckhoff EtherCAT Box modules designed to acquire binary field signals directly at the machine and transfer them, electrically isolated, to the higher-level controller.
The series includes multiple digital-input variants, including 8-channel and 16-channel 24 VDC modules, negative-switching versions, and fast-input models with 10 μs filtering and timestamp-capable channels for time-critical signals. Across the platform, the modules use compact IP67 housings and direct EtherCAT connectivity, allowing field installation without a separate coupler box. Depending on the model, signal connections are made through M8 or M12 connectors, input states are shown by integrated LEDs, and the connected sensors are supplied from the box control voltage while auxiliary voltage can be forwarded downstream when needed. The EP Digital Input Modules series is intended for distributed automation systems that require machine-mounted digital input hardware, reliable signal acquisition, and straightforward integration into EtherCAT-based control architectures.
