Product Description:

The EP9224-0037 is a modular EtherCAT P supply hub produced by Beckhoff within the EP Digital Input Modules series. Intended for field-mounted automation, the unit channels control voltage (US) and peripheral voltage (UP) through four downstream ports so distributed sensors and actuators can be powered and networked over a single hybrid cable. By combining data and energy on one connector, the device simplifies machine wiring and supports IP-rated installations where cabinet space is limited.

Physically the module measures 60 × 150 × 26.5 mm, and the enclosure is molded from PA6 to provide mechanical strength and environmental sealing. Each upstream and downstream link is terminated on an M8, P-coded, 4-pin EtherCAT P receptacle, and the internal switch exposes 4 independent ports that can each forward both EtherCAT telegrams and 24 V power. A continuous load of 3 A is permitted per US and UP line at every port, while the common UP rail accepts a rated input of 24 VDC for peripheral loads. Dedicated B17 5G 1.5 mm² ENP connectors act as the power input and output jumpers, enabling daisy-chain routing between modules.

The incoming UP channel can supply as much as 15.5 A, and the same aggregate limit applies to the US control voltage, whose nominal level remains at 24 VDC. Internally the board samples load currents with 10 mA resolution and tracks the 24 V bus with a 100 mV voltage step; temperature monitoring is implemented with a 1 K granularity to support derating when required. Up to 10 EtherCAT P slaves may be attached to each downstream socket without exceeding protocol or power constraints, and the mirrored B17 output lets additional EP9224-0037 modules share the remaining budget. These diagnostic and distribution features allow the device to manage decentralized I/O segments directly on the machine frame.
