Product Description:
The EP7342-0002 is a two-channel motor output module produced by Beckhoff within the EP Digital Input Modules series. Designed for decentralized automation, it links local actuators to the control network while delivering drive power to small DC brush motors or inductive loads. The housing is fully sealed, allowing direct mounting on moving axes and reducing cabinet wiring. Incoming commands are converted to pulse-width-modulated current so that motor speed and torque follow the process sequence without additional amplifiers, and standardized circular connectors simplify field installation in tight spaces.
Communication and power are routed through the shielded 2 x M8, 4-pin bus connectors, while motor power and feedback share a single common M12 socket. Logic electronics and encoders draw from a unified 24 VDC supply rail, eliminating separate sensor power lines. Two output stages can source up to 3.5 A per channel, making the module suitable for conveyors, grippers, or other small motion axes. The internal counter accepts encoder signals at rates up to 400,000 increments/s, and the PWM generator switches at 32 kHz to reduce audible noise and current ripple. Each of the two encoder inputs operates in single-ended mode and provides basic speed feedback for closed-loop control.
Drive precision is supported by 10-bit current and 16-bit speed resolution, enabling fine adjustment of acceleration profiles. The overmolded enclosure carries a protection rating of IP65/IP66/IP67, so it withstands dust, oil, and high-pressure washdown. Network integration is handled via EtherCAT, permitting synchronized updates across distributed I/O with minimal cycle-time impact. The module measures only 30 x 126 x 26.5 mm, leaving space on the machine frame for additional sensors and actuators.
