Product Description:
EP1098-0001 is an industrial I/O box from Beckhoff Automation. With an EtherCAT interface, the box provides a reliable solution for interfacing digital sensors with controllers on high-speed industrial EtherCAT networks. The box features eight digital inputs. Each of these inputs can connect to one digital sensor. LED indicators are available on the box for monitoring the status of connected sensors. M8 screw type connections provide terminal wiring for the sensors. The box is available in a housing that measures 30 x 126 x 26.5 millimeters. The housing is made of polyamide, which is known for its durability, strength and chemical resistance. Protection category of the housing is IP65. IP65-rated products are completely dustproof and can withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction. This high level of ingress protection allows use of this box in conditions where devices with inferior ingress protection cannot be used.
Delay of the input filter on the unit is 10 microseconds. This low delay makes the box suitable for electronic inputs and the process inputs can be forwarded to higher-level control with minimal processing delay. The box supplies sensors from an internal power module that can deliver a total of 0.5 amps for the sensors. Input signals from the sensors reach the box via M8 screw-type connections. The binary “0” signal level voltage range is 11 to 30 Volts. The binary “1” signal level voltage range is 0 to 7 Volts. Electrical isolation is available on the EP1098-0001 box between the fieldbus and control voltage. Special feature available on the unit is ground switching. The temperature range recommended for box operation is -25 to 60 degrees Celsius. The EP1098-0001 box is CE marked and UL approved.
