Product Description:
The EP9300-0022 digital input module from Beckhoff forms part of the EP Digital Input Modules series. As a compact I/O station, it receives discrete field signals and forwards them to higher-level controllers through its integrated network interface, simplifying decentralized machine wiring. The module is potted in a sealed housing suitable for installation directly on machinery. Its compact format helps place I/O closer to sensors and actuators, which reduces long signal runs in distributed machine layouts. EP9300-0022 combines power distribution, signal acquisition, and real-time communication in one device.
Its single EtherCAT uplink is presented on an M8, 4-pin socket, and the unit supports auto-negotiation so link speed is set automatically to 100 Mbit/s when connected. Field wiring uses standard CAT 5 Twisted Pair, so standard industrial Ethernet cables can be routed without special shielding. The overall size is 60 x 126 x 26.5 mm, allowing the block to fit inside narrow cable trays and behind guarding. The encapsulated polyamide enclosure carries a protection class of IP65/IP66/IP67, meaning it is dust-tight and resistant to low-pressure water jets or temporary immersion. Network segments may extend up to 100 m between active devices, matching typical plant layouts. Two M12 D-coded connectors provide Profinet pass-through, while separate M8 power-in and power-out sockets distribute the auxiliary supply to downstream modules.
The electronics are designed for a supply of 24 VDC, delivered through the A-coded M8 male connector and daisy-chained through the adjacent female socket. At idle with all channels active, the module draws only 120 mA, minimizing load on the control cabinet power supply. Signal and logic domains are isolated from the network ports by transformers rated for 500 V, protecting both the controller and field sensors against ground-potential shifts. For controller integration, the two rear M12 ports forward cyclic data using PROFINET RT for real-time network communication.
