EP3184-0402 is a sturdy yet compact digital input/output module by Beckhoff, being a part of its EtherCAT Box series.

Developed for working in tough industrial settings, this unit features 8 electronic PNP digital outputs, which makes it a perfect fit for usage in applications where reliable switching of signals is needed at the field level. Each output channel on the EP3184-0402 can drive a maximum of 0.5 A, sum of all the output channels is limited to a maximum of 4.0 A in the module. With a range of -15% to +20%, the device operates on a conventional 24 V DC supply, ensuring consistent and reliable output performance. It also has built-in advanced short-circuit and overload protection on all channels, protecting connected devices and, respectively, system uptime during electrical failures. The M8 connectors provide the connectivity for fast & secure wiring in limited spaces. The module allows the use of a maximum wire cross-section of AWG24 with convenience to standard industrial cabling. The consumption at the E-bus is usually 120 mA, which enables efficient communication within EtherCAT networks while not consuming too much power.

Built to withstand severe conditions, the module is IP67-rated, meaning it is dust-proof and it is watertight when temporarily immersed in water. It works at a wide temperature range from -25°C to +60°C, which enables it to operate perfectly both in a cold and hot environment. The enclosure is 30 mm x 126 mm x 26.5 mm in size, which is relatively small yet can fit into small, tight installation spaces.
