Product Description:
The EP9214-0023-1022 is a field-mountable digital input and power distribution unit produced by Beckhoff in the EP Digital Input Modules series. It is intended for decentralized installation, where EtherCAT communication and local power distribution are needed directly on the machine instead of inside a control cabinet. By combining sealed industrial connectors with distributed I/O functionality, the module supports compact machine layouts and reduces the amount of terminal-based cabinet wiring required for sensors and actuators.
Its housing measures 60 × 150 × 26.5 mm and is molded from PA6 polyamide, which allows the unit to mount on machine frames without taking up panel space. Upstream power enters through a 7/8-inch, 5-pin plug, and downstream power is passed through a 7/8 in socket, 5-pin so adjacent modules can share the same supply segment. EtherCAT communication passes through 2 × M8 socket, 4-pin connections arranged as an in and out pair, which keeps the network line continuous through the station. Sensor and actuator cables can be routed as far as 30 m from the module, and each M8 output port can supply up to 4 A before the short-circuit protection responds at 4.2 A. The enclosure has an IP65/IP66/IP67 rating, which allows the module to be installed in exposed machine areas where dust, splashing water, and wash-down conditions are present.
The unit provides 4 individually fused output channels through a 4 × M8 socket, 4-pin block for parallel distribution to multiple loads. The upstream supply voltage and the sensor supply both operate at 24 VDC, so connected devices can share the same nominal voltage without requiring separate conversion stages. Both the Up and Us power rails can source up to 16 A at 40 °C, which allows the module to support distributed loads such as solenoids, valves, and compact drives while remaining within its thermal operating range.
