The EP4374-0002 is an EtherCAT plug-and-play analog I/O module supplied by Beckhoff for distributed machine-level signal handling. It combines analog sensing and actuation in one IP67 unit, allowing signal acquisition close to machinery instead of routing every channel back to a cabinet. Within an automation cell, the module converts field voltages or currents into digital data for the controller and recreates analog signals for valves, drives, or transducers. This arrangement supports decentralized installation where both measurement and command signals are needed at the same station.
It accepts a control voltage of 24 VDC with a tolerance of -15% to +20%, and the fieldbus interface is galvanically isolated by 500 V to shield upstream electronics. The module provides 2 AI / 2 AO channels, and each channel uses a differential connection to help reject ground offsets during signal transmission. On the input side, the Sigma-Delta converter supplies fresh results every 100 µs, while an internal digital filter limits usable bandwidth to 5 kHz so high-frequency noise is reduced before processing. Current-mode ranges have a typical resistance of 85 Ω plus the diode drop, while voltage-mode ranges are greater than 200 kΩ. Each channel can be set for standard ranges such as -10 to 10 V, 0 to 10 V, 0 to 20 mA, or 4 to 20 mA.
The output converter updates at 40 µs, which supports fine signal changes for proportional actuators and other controlled field devices. Current outputs can drive loads below 500 Ω, while voltage outputs require loads above 5 kΩ to preserve linearity during operation. Input measuring error remains within 0.3 % FS across the selectable ranges, supporting repeatable process data in mixed analog applications. The specified operating range of -25 to +60 °C supports use in outdoor or unconditioned cabinet locations. Peripheral supply pins deliver 0 to 30 VDC so external sensors can be powered without additional wiring, and the available output ranges mirror the input ranges for consistent signal selection.
