Product Description:
The EP3744-0041 is an EtherCAT-based input and output station manufactured by Beckhoff and assigned to the EP Digital Input Modules series. Its housing integrates solid-state channels that collect switching states from sensors while also measuring pneumatic pressure, allowing decentralized connection of field devices to a controller in automated assemblies. By combining electrical and fluid signal interfaces, the unit simplifies wiring and reduces setup time in industrial machinery. Its compact encapsulated design mounts directly on the machine frame.
The module offers 6 digital input channels that accept 24 V signal levels, and each input is scanned within 10 µs so edge changes are detected quickly. It also has 2 transistor outputs for direct actuation of pilot valves, and the assembly operates from a supply of 24 VDC provided on the Us power pins. For pneumatic monitoring, it incorporates 4 absolute pressure inputs routed through 6 mm push-in fittings, and each channel is converted into a 16-bit word for the controller. Input data refresh is aligned to a conversion time of five EtherCAT cycles, supporting synchronous sampling with neighboring terminals.
The pressure section tolerates over-range up to 3 bar absolute without damage and reports values with a total measuring uncertainty of 3% FS under rated conditions. EtherCAT process images can be refreshed every 700 µs, matching fast motion sequences, while the controller receives the fine resolution of 1 mbar/LSB from the internal converter. Total current drawn from the Us feed never exceeds 4 A, and the individual outputs are limited to 0.5 A each, helping protect shared 24 V rails from brownout conditions. A single external transducer can be connected to the dedicated reference input to correct drift caused by temperature changes or tubing length.
