Product Description:
The EP1122-0001 is a digital input module manufactured by Beckhoff for the EP Digital Input Modules series. As an EtherCAT field device, it gathers binary sensor states and forwards them to the controller over the real-time network, allowing machine builders to decentralize I/O without a control cabinet. This arrangement places the module close to field devices and helps reduce centralized wiring in distributed machine sections.
Communication on the network runs at 100 MBaud, and this speed is maintained through standard EtherCAT cables up to a length of 100 m. Two internal junctions present the signal on a backbone and through an additional branch that terminates in 4 x M8 sockets, allowing the network to continue while also supporting local sensor connections. The module accepts a nominal supply of 24 V DC (-15% / +20%). From that supply, it draws 120 mA for its logic electronics while the input circuits share the available power. Fast Hot Connect is not supported, link restoration after topology changes follows the standard initialization time, and the module has two junction ports. Data is carried exclusively on EtherCAT cables, and the installation position can be changed without derating because there is no fixed heat sink orientation.
Total sensor load through the header must stay below 4 A. The enclosure meets IP65/IP66/IP67, so it resists dust and high-pressure water jets in open machine frames. Safe operation is specified between -25 to +60 °C, and the module can be stored from -40 to +85 °C when it is not in service. External dimensions of 30 x 126 x 26.5 mm allow installation in tight wiring trays, and the PA6 polyamide housing resists oils and common coolants. Shielded connectors clamp the cable screen directly to the metal flange, which supports low-impedance grounding and helps preserve signal quality on high-speed differential pairs.
