Product Description:

EP2008-0002 is an EtherCAT box. It is a product of Beckhoff Automation. The box is designed to process digital or binary signals. It switches control signals it received from controllers to the actuators for process control. Outputs on the box are safe from short circuits. The total output current it can supply to the output channels is 4 Amps. Output overload is possible for a short duration. The EP2008-0002 has 8 output channels. M12 connectors provide wiring connections for the output channels. Two output channels connect to each M12 connector. The types of loads that can be connected to the outputs include inductive, ohmic and lamp loads. EtherCAT interface on the EP2008-0002 is via two M8 sockets, one of which carries data for the upstream direction and the other carries data for the downstream direction.

These EtherCAT boxes are connected in a daisy-chain configuration and provide an effective solution for interfacing I/Os with process controllers connected to EtherCAT networks. Nominal output voltage for each channel on the box is 24 Volts DC. The maximum output current per channel is 0.5 Amps. Typical switching time for the ON state is 50 microseconds. Typical switching time for the OFF state is 50 microseconds. Value of the typical short-circuit current is 1.5 Amps. The box draws 120 milliamps from its power supply. The recommended ambient temperature for box operation is from -25 to 60 degrees Celsius. The recommended ambient temperature for box storage is from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. With an IP65 ingress protection rating, the EtherCAT box is safe from dust ingress. It is also safe from low-pressure jets of water. Weight of the unit is approximately 165 grams.
