The VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series is a variable frequency drive platform developed specifically for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning applications, with control functions aimed at fan and pump operation rather than general-purpose drive use.
The series covers a broad power range and multiple supply classes, including 3 x 200–240 VAC, 3 x 380–460 VAC, and 3 x 525–600 VAC versions, with enclosure options such as IP20, NEMA 1, and IP54 depending on model. Its control feature set includes Automatic Energy Optimization, integral PID regulation, sleep mode, flying start capability, and Automatic Motor Adaptation, all intended to improve energy use and maintain stable process control in variable-demand HVAC systems. Communication and system integration are also a major part of the series, with a standard RS485 interface and support for protocols such as FC, Metasys N2, Landis/Staefa Apogee FLN, and Modbus RTU, plus optional cards for Profibus, LonWorks, and DeviceNet. Across the series, the drives are built for industrial installation with programmable digital and analog I/O, relay outputs, EMC-focused installation provisions, and model-dependent mounting styles that allow either cabinet installation or wall mounting near the driven equipment.
