The 178B1034 is an AC drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. It regulates the speed of induction motors used in air-handling units, pumps, chillers, and related building systems. By converting fixed-frequency mains power into a variable-frequency output, the drive allows connected equipment to adjust airflow, pressure, or fluid circulation in response to changing demand. This variable-speed operation can reduce unnecessary motor loading and energy consumption when the application does not require full output.
This model accepts a line supply of 380–460 VAC, allowing direct connection to common three-phase power networks within that voltage range. Its motor output is rated at 1.1 kW (1.5 HP), making it suitable for small fans, circulation pumps, and other low-power HVAC loads. The electronics are housed in a Compact IP54 enclosure that protects internal components against limited dust ingress and splashing water. This enclosure supports wall-mounted installation in plant rooms where the drive may be exposed to airborne particles or occasional moisture. Communication with supervisory controllers is available through Profibus DP V1, enabling the exchange of operating commands, setpoints, status data, and feedback over an industrial network.
