Product Description:
The VLT 6072 is a variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss as part of the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. It is intended for air-handling units, chillers, and pump sets where modulating motor speed directly lowers energy use and noise compared with fixed-speed starters. By converting three-phase mains power into a synthesized output, the drive gives building automation systems precise control over fan or compressor speed.
The inverter delivers a continuous mechanical output of 55 kW, equivalent to 75 HP, so it can run medium-sized induction motors commonly found in commercial HVAC plants. A maximum output frequency of 450 Hz supports high-pole-count or high-speed motors, while the frequency setpoint can be adjusted with a resolution of ±0.003 Hz for precise airflow or pressure control. Closed-loop commands are executed within 3 ms, limiting process lag, and the true power factor remains at 0.90 under nominal load to keep reactive demand moderate. The displacement power factor stays above 0.98, and the input tolerates a supply imbalance of ±1.5%. Operation is permitted at elevations up to 1,000 m, and the chassis withstands vibration levels of 0.7 g RMS without performance loss.
High starting demands are handled by a breakaway torque of 160% for 0.5 seconds; if the load continues to resist, the drive sustains 110% torque for one minute and supports a steady 110% overload thereafter. Protective circuitry is rated for a prospective fault current of 100,000 A, making the drive suitable for feeders with high available fault current in large switchboards. The electronics remain functional at up to 95% relative humidity, allowing the drive to operate in humid mechanical rooms when installed with appropriate protection from condensation and direct moisture exposure.
