Product Description:
The 178B0373 is an AC variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. Designed for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning installations, it modulates motor speed to match real-time airflow or water-flow demands in commercial buildings. By converting constant-frequency mains power into variable-frequency output, the drive reduces energy consumption, softens mechanical stress during starts, and provides precise process control. It is intended for integration inside electrical cabinets, where it links central building-management controllers to the motors that power fans, pumps, and chillers. This arrangement allows the connected equipment to respond to changing building demand instead of operating continuously at full speed.
The drive operates from a three-phase supply of 380–460 VAC, allowing direct connection to common industrial distribution voltages. The inverter can deliver up to 37 kW/50 HP of motor output, providing sufficient power for large air-handling units or circulation pumps. All electronics are housed in a compact IP20 chassis, which provides protection against accidental finger contact while keeping the enclosure narrow. Network integration is handled through Profibus DP V1, enabling cyclic setpoint exchange, diagnostics, and remote parameter changes through a compatible building-management system. Electromagnetic emissions are limited by a built-in filter rated for Class A1 and B, helping the panel meet conducted-noise limits without an additional external filter. The cabinet must still provide suitable protection from dust, water, and other contaminants because the IP20 enclosure is intended for protected indoor installation.
The front panel includes an LCP, allowing local start, stop, monitoring, and parameter adjustment without separate software. The model has uncoated control electronics, so it should be installed in a dry cabinet that is free from corrosive vapors and excessive condensation. Its HVAC application class provides preset functions for fan and pump control in building climate systems. Integrated proportional-integral-derivative control supports regulation based on pressure, temperature, or flow feedback from connected sensors. Fire-override functions can command designated operating behavior when they receive the appropriate signal from the building control system. Soft starting reduces sudden mechanical loading on belts, couplings, valves, and piping when connected equipment begins operating.
