The 178B0768 is an AC drive produced by Danfoss within the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. It is intended for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning machinery where variable speed improves airflow regulation and energy efficiency. By modulating the frequency supplied to induction motors, the drive allows building-management controllers to fine-tune fans, pumps, or compressors in industrial plants, commercial towers, and data centers. Its narrow cabinet footprint also makes it suitable for retrofit projects where installation space is limited.
This model accepts a three-phase input of 380–460 VAC, matching common low-voltage distribution networks. Its continuous output capability is rated at 4.0 kW, which corresponds to 5.0 HP. The drive can operate a motor at this output without requiring power derating under the applicable operating conditions. The slim book-style IP20 enclosure provides protection against accidental contact but relies on surrounding airflow for heat removal, so the unit must be mounted inside a ventilated control panel.
