Product Description:
The VLT 6003 is a compact HVAC drive from the VLT 6000 series of Danfoss. It operates on a 3-phase 380 to 460 V AC supply with an input frequency range of 50 to 60 Hz. The drive’s input current is rated at 3.8 A for 380 V and 3.4 A for 460 V, while it supports up to ±10% input voltage variation and its output voltage ranges from 0 to 100% of input supply.
The VLT 6003 drive delivers 4.1 A output current with a shaft power of 1.5 kW and it supports up to 1000 Hz output frequency. Its efficiency is rated as approx. 96% and its displacement power factor exceeds 0.98 at full load. The drive features automatic energy optimization for load-based voltage control and it includes automatic motor adaptation for dynamic motor tuning. It offers 110% starting torque for one minute and supports 160% torque for 0.5 seconds. This VLT 6003 drive possess 100% of rated acceleration torque and its speed control range in open loop mode is 1:100, while its speed accuracy is ±7.5 rpm below 1500 rpm. Its system response time is 3 ms and its ramp times can be configured from 1 to 3600 seconds. The drive enclosure is IP20 book-style and compact in design. It weighs around 8 kg and uses internal air cooling. The unit is protected against motor losses and it has integrated protection from overvoltage, undervoltage and thermal overload.
The VLT 6003 drive includes eight digital inputs and three pulse inputs, along with two analog voltage inputs and one current input. It offers two programmable digital/analog outputs and two relay outputs are available for additional control functions. The drive has a built-in RS-485 communication with four selectable protocols that include FC, Modbus RTU, Metasys N2 and Apogee FLN.
Frequently Asked Questions about VLT 6003:
Q: What benefit does automatic motor adaptation in VLT 6003 drive provide?
A: It continuously tunes to the motor’s characteristics, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency. This reduces energy waste and compensates for motor wear over time.
Q: Why is 110% starting torque useful in the VLT 6003 drive?
A: It allows the VLT 6003 to overcome initial static friction or load inertia, ensuring smooth motor start-ups. This is particularly helpful for heavy-load HVAC components like fans or pumps.
Q: How does the 160% torque for 0.5 s capability enhance the VLT 6003 drive performance?
A: It delivers short-term overload handling, enabling quick acceleration under transient load. This protective burst capacity aids in motor resilience during unexpected load surges.
Q: Why is ±7.5 rpm speed accuracy below 1500 rpm significant in VLT 6003?
A: It enables precise control of slow-speed HVAC operations, reducing drift and improving process consistency. This is critical in applications like variable-speed fans for airflow regulation.
Q: How does 1:100 open-loop speed control benefit users of the VLT 6003 drive?
A: It offers wide range speed adjustments without encoder feedback, simplifying installation. This flexibility suits varied HVAC tasks from gentle balance to rapid response.
