The VLT 6052 is a variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. Designed for building automation, the unit converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a regulated output that matches the load on fans, pumps, or air-handling equipment. This operation reduces energy use and allows precise airflow and water circulation in large commercial installations.
In low-voltage installations, the drive operates with an efficiency of 0.95, while at both 380–460 V and 525–600 V it maintains an efficiency of 0.96, so thermal losses remain limited across the supported supply classes. When powered from 200 V, the rectifier can draw up to 126.6 A; at 380 V, the maximum input requirement falls to 72.0 A, reflecting the current reduction that accompanies higher line voltage. Upstream protection is selected accordingly, and the 200–240 V circuit can be fused at 200 A to clear a short circuit without nuisance trips. The inverter section delivers 54 kVA to a 240 V motor, 52.5 kVA at 400 V, and 51 kVA at 550 V. Corresponding output currents reach 73 A for 380–440 V machines and 54 A for 550 V machines, providing flexibility when matching motor nameplates without oversizing cable runs. An open-loop V/Hz profile is standard, supported by internal DC-link capacitors sized for HVAC duty cycles.
For mid-voltage feeders, the maximum upstream fuse is 100 A, while the 525–600 V supply group requires only 75 A, keeping fault-protection hardware compact. With a 200–230 V motor, the inverter can supply up to 143 A of phase current, which is sufficient to start large centrifugal fans without bypass contactors. The typical shaft output is 37 kW, and the input stage at 550 V carries a rated current of 53 A during continuous service. Automatic energy optimization, carrier-frequency adjustment, and PID functions help maintain operating setpoints as building loads change.
