The 178B2008 is an AC variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 6000 HVAC Drives series. It regulates fan and pump motors in building climate systems, allowing automation controllers to match airflow or water circulation to changing demand. By varying the motor supply frequency and voltage, the drive supports efficient control of ventilation, heating, and cooling equipment in large facilities.
The drive connects to a three-phase mains supply rated at 380–460 VAC. Its inverter section supports a continuous mechanical output of 4.0 kW or 5.0 HP, making it suitable for moderate-capacity fans and pumps. Cooling air passes through the spine of the slim book-style IP20 enclosure, allowing compact installation inside a protective electrical panel without additional ductwork. Integrated mains suppression is provided by a Class A1 and B filter, which limits high-frequency emissions on industrial and residential supply networks. The drive is supplied with no local control panel, so settings must be adjusted through a remote interface or a compatible plug-in panel. Its uncoated power and control boards are intended for conditioned switchrooms where excessive moisture and corrosive airborne contaminants are not expected. Adequate panel ventilation should be maintained so cooling air can move freely through the enclosure and carry heat away from the internal power components.
