Product Description:

Danfoss produces VLT 6011 as a control drive that function on a three-phase 380 to 460 V source. Its enclosure is rated IP-54 and meets NEMA 12 standards that makes it dustproof and splash resistant for industrial indoor use. The drive’s ambient operating temperature limit is 104°F at an altitude of up to 3300 ft without derating.

The VLT 6011 drive includes an internal ventilation fan for cooling and its output frequency range is between 0 to 1000 Hz. It nominal output current is 14 A and its maximum 60-second current rating is 15.4 A. The unit possess an output power of 11.5 kVA at 400 V and 11.2 kVA at 460V, while its typical shaft output power capacity is 10 HP. It delivers a ramp time range of 1 - 3600 sec and its starting turn effect reaches 160% for 0.5 seconds, along with 110% for 60 sec. This VLT drive includes automatic energy enhancement for better motor performance and its built-in PID controller adjusts based on system needs. The unit’s quick start ensures smooth operation for rotating loads and it includes fire mode for operation during safety-critical events. Its motor thermal protection is enabled by default and it supports sleep mode for reduced energy use.

The VLT 6011 drive functions over a cable length of 150 meters shielded and 300 meters unshielded, with 4 mm² of required cable for motor and power. Its maximum pre-fuse rating is set at 35 A. Th drive has a leakage current of above 3.5 mA and requires proper grounding. It protects against phase losses and DC bus faults. The VLT drive has a rated power loss of 295 W at maximum load and its analog current input is provided with 4 - 20 mA range.

Frequently Asked Questions about VLT 6011:

Q: How does the internal fan enhance performance of the VLT 6011 drive?

A: The internal ventilation fan maintains optimal internal temperatures, preventing overheating inside the VLT 6011. Proper thermal management ensures consistent operation and longevity in industrial environments.

Q: Why is a 0–1000 Hz output important for applications using the VLT 6011?

A: The wide frequency range allows precise speed control of varied motor types, from slow conveyors to high-speed spindles. It helps tailor motor performance to specific processes and load demands.

Q: How does the built-in PID controller benefit systems using VLT 6011?

A: The onboard PID automatically adjusts output based on feedback, maintaining stable speed or flow control without external PLC intervention. This reduces system complexity and improves responsiveness.

Q: How does ramp time adjustability (1–3600 s) enhance the VLT 6011’s usefulness?

A: Its adjustable ramp lets operators tailor acceleration/deceleration to match load inertia, reducing mechanical stress and prolonging motor and drive life. It provides flexibility across diverse start-up scenarios.

Q: Why is the shaft output power (~10 HP) significant for users of VLT 6011?

A: A nominal 10 HP shaft output indicates the typical motor load the drive can handle at rated conditions. It helps engineers match drive and motor capabilities for efficient system design.
