MIV Servo Drives

The MIV Servo Drives used in the Okuma Motion Control System (MCS) are inverter units designed to drive both spindle motors and axis drive motors within the machine’s servo system.

Each MIV unit is fed from a DC power supply unit that provides the main DC bus (300 VDC) along with 24 VDC control power, and it exchanges data with connected peripherals over the servo link, encoder link, and converter link. The series integrates a dedicated motor-control board inside the drive to manage motor operation, and it is offered in one-axis versions for controlling a single motor and two-axis versions for controlling two motors from one unit. For service and troubleshooting, the front-mounted 7-segment LED provides both normal status indication and alarm indication, and it displays error numbers during faults to help narrow down the cause.
