Product Description:
The MIV45-3-V3 is an inverter module built by Okuma for the MIV Servo Drives series. The unit functions as the DC-link and axis power interface in Okuma CNC machining centers, supplying controlled power to connected servo amplifiers and spindle drives. By conditioning power from the incoming DC bus and coordinating switching states through its logic interface, it supports precise motor control in industrial automation. Okuma classifies the device as an inverter unit designed for cabinet-level integration with compatible CNC control equipment.
Internal control electronics operate from a 24 VDC supply, keeping the logic stages isolated from the high-energy section. The power section receives a nominal 300 VDC bus that transfers energy to the connected amplifiers. The left-side output is rated for 45 kW, providing substantial power for motion axes connected to the common rail. Two axial cooling blowers maintain airflow across heat-generating components during continuous operation. A front-panel rotary address selector provides a 5-bit identification range, allowing multiple units to share a serial communication chain without address conflicts. The separated logic supply, address selector, and cooling system support coordinated operation when the module is installed with other compatible drive components.
The enclosure measures 325 mm deep and 380 mm high, while its width is 300 mm. These dimensions permit direct installation in compatible Okuma control cabinets and allow adjacent drive modules to be arranged within the available panel space. During operation, the thermal management circuit monitors heat sink temperature and issues overheat alarm code AL 05 when the permitted temperature limit is reached. This alarm initiates a controlled shutdown of the drive group to protect the power electronics from excessive heat. The module weighs 24.0 kg, so suitable lifting aids should be used during transport and cabinet installation. Its cabinet-mounted enclosure provides access to the front controls while leaving the cooling path available for effective airflow.
