The MIV22-3-VAC is an inverter unit produced by Okuma for the MIV Servo Drives series. Dedicated to servo applications, it modulates the DC link supplied by the machine’s power converter so that a single motor axis receives regulated voltage and frequency in response to real-time motion commands. When paired with a compatible controller, the unit supports the torque, speed, and position loops required for precise tool and table movements. This functionality makes it suitable for CNC machining centers and other automated equipment that relies on accurate, repeatable axis control.
This drive is configured for one controlled axis, making it suitable for a machine tool that requires a single servo channel. Internal signal buses for servo, encoder, and converter communication coordinate torque references, feedback data, and DC supply status without requiring separate external connections for each signal path. Low-level electronics are energized from a 24 VDC control rail that keeps the logic circuits active during interruptions to the main power supply. Power devices draw energy from a shared intermediate circuit rated at 300 VDC, allowing the module to exchange energy with neighboring inverters through the common bus. When an application requires continuous high torque, the rated output capacity reaches 22 kW. This capacity supports sizable spindle or feed drives while remaining within the thermal limits of the chassis.
The interface includes a rotary address selector with a 5-bit range, allowing multiple inverters to operate on the same control network without address conflicts.
