Product Description:
The MIV0205A-1-B5 is an Okuma inverter unit in the MIV Servo Drives series. This drive forms the core of a power module that supplies matched BL/PREX servo motors in CNC machining centers and other automated machines. By converting energy from the plant’s DC bus into regulated phase currents, it coordinates axis motion, executes commanded profiles, and returns excess energy to the common bus. This functionality supports the precise position and speed control required for repeatable industrial automation cycles.
The drive has a two-axis layout, allowing the independent L and M channels to operate from one enclosure. Its logic section uses a 24 VDC control supply, which keeps parameter memory and diagnostic functions active when the main power is off. The power stage draws from a shared 300 VDC bus, allowing regenerated energy to move between connected machine axes. The L channel can deliver 2.0 kW, or 2.67 hp, of continuous mechanical output. The M channel is rated at 5.0 kW, or 6.67 hp, to support an axis with greater power requirements. An ICB1* control board handles gating signals and communication with the CNC, while BL/PREX motor compatibility ensures suitable commutation for supported Okuma motors.
The speed monitor provides a scale of 1562 rpm/V, allowing the CNC to calculate real-time motor speed from the analog output. The torque monitor is calibrated for peak torque at 3 V, allowing motor loading to be checked without an external transducer. The enclosure has a width of 100 mm, a height of 380 mm, and a depth of 295 mm, which permits multiple units to be installed side by side in a control cabinet. The unit weighs 6.5 kg, reducing the load placed on its mounting structure. Field wiring connects through an Xt1 terminal with an M6 screw and separate Xt2L and Xt2M terminals with M4 screws. These terminal sizes accommodate the control and motor connections required by the two independent output channels.
