The MIV05A-1-B5 is an inverter unit delivered by Okuma within the MIV Servo Drives series. It converts DC-bus energy into regulated AC power for paired BL or PREX servo motors, allowing closed-loop speed and torque control on machine-tool axes and peripheral automation. The module occupies a single-axis slot in an Okuma drive rack, where it receives CNC or PLC motion commands through a dedicated backplane connector. Its rack-mounted format allows the inverter to operate alongside compatible power, control, and feedback modules in an integrated motion system.
This unit supports one servo channel, so its control electronics operate a single mechanical axis. The drive logic and I/O circuits use 24 VDC, keeping the low-voltage electronics isolated from the main power section. Motor power comes from a shared DC link operating at 300 VDC, and the inverter switches this voltage into a three-phase output while returning regenerative energy to the bus. Continuous motor output can reach 4.8 kW without thermal derating, making the unit suitable for midsize spindles or rapid-feed axes.
