The MIV06A-1-B5 is an Okuma inverter unit supplied within the MIV Servo Drives series. It is intended to run a single motion axis inside an Okuma CNC system or automated cell, translating commands from the host controller into regulated motor current while processing speed feedback. Okuma integrates the drive with its proprietary bus so the unit, motor, and machine control can exchange diagnostic data and coordinate protection functions during machining or material-handling cycles.
This model receives logic power from a 24 VDC control supply, which supports the gate-control and monitoring electronics. Power for the motor stage is drawn from a shared DC link rated at 300 VDC and connected through a 1-178137-2 plug. The L-side output can deliver 6.0 kW, equivalent to 8 hp, for a compatible spindle or axis motor. Internal cooling relies on two axial fans that force air across the heat sink and help remove heat from the power electronics. Speed feedback uses a scale of 1562 min⁻¹/V, so one volt on the monitor pin corresponds to 1,562 rpm and provides a direct reference for operational checks. The logic harness connects through a 53460-0611 connector, providing a secure interface for the control circuitry.
The torque monitor has a full-scale output of 3 V, enabling proportional load readings without range switching. The inverter has an overall height of 380 mm and a width of 100 mm, allowing it to fit into densely populated control cabinets. Its weight of 5.5 kg limits the mounting load placed on the cabinet structure. Field wiring enters the upper terminal block, which is secured by M6 screws, and exits through the lower terminal block, which uses M5 screws. This terminal arrangement separates the associated wiring paths and provides distinct connection points for the upper and lower sections of the drive.
