The MIV30-3-V1 is an inverter unit produced by Okuma as part of the MIV Servo Drives series. It converts shared DC bus energy into controlled three-phase output for multiple servo axes, allowing machine tools to execute coordinated motion profiles without external transformers. Within an automation cell, the unit forms the electrical interface between the CNC controller and the power section, governing acceleration, deceleration, and steady-state speed while protecting connected motors against overload and regenerative surges.
The drive incorporates an ICB3 control board that interprets CNC commands and modulates gate signals. Paired with Control ROM type 1, the board runs vector control algorithms for regulated motor operation. Low-level electronics draw a 24 VDC control supply so the command circuitry stays energized even when the main bus is isolated.
