The MIV0102-1-B5 is an inverter unit manufactured by Okuma and supplied within the MIV Servo Drives series. As an inverter unit, it regulates power between the CNC controller and the connected servo axes, converting DC-link energy into controlled three-phase output for precise speed and torque regulation. In multi-axis machining centers, this module acts as the interface through which spindle and feed motors receive their commanded voltages. This arrangement lets the controller send motion commands while the inverter supplies the current and voltage needed to follow those commands.

The internal inverter control board is designated ICB1, indicating the circuit layout used for switching, feedback filtering, and fault monitoring. On the low-power channel, called the L side, the drive can deliver up to 1.33 hp, which corresponds to 1.0 kW of continuous output and suits a smaller feed or auxiliary axis. The high-power channel, called the M side, is rated for 2.67 hp, equal to 2.0 kW, for a larger servo axis or a light-duty spindle. These separately rated outputs allow two different motor sizes to operate from the same enclosure while sharing the same power section, regenerative path, and internal packaging.

Motor compatibility is limited to the BL motor and PREX motor families, which use the same encoder protocol for feedback handling. That common feedback method helps the drive process position information in a consistent format across supported motor types. The drive's dual-channel layout lets the machine match different mechanical loads to the appropriate output side without changing the enclosure format. Both channels operate from a common DC bus, which supports compact integration in multi-axis equipment and keeps the power architecture centralized inside the module.
