Product Description:
Okuma’s MIV01-1-B1 servo drive belongs to the MIV Servo Drives series and serves as an inverter unit that powers and controls a single CNC axis. Installed in an Okuma machining center cabinet, the module regulates current and voltage for brushless or PREX spindle and feed motors, converting DC bus energy into the waveforms required for closed-loop motion. By integrating with the host controller, it handles velocity, tool-path, and positioning commands to maintain accurate tool movement during automated cutting cycles. The drive is suited for machine functions that require coordinated axis response during programmed cutting and motion sequences.
The drive handles a dedicated control circuit at 24 VDC, a level that energizes its logic, gate drivers, and front-panel electronics without introducing high voltage at the control stage. Power exchange with the shared link occurs through a 300 VDC bus, so the converter section can accelerate or decelerate the attached actuator while returning excess energy to the common supply. Because the axis count is 1, all feedback, servo, and converter links are assigned to a single motor channel. Its thermal rating allows continuous output of 1.0 kW, which suits light milling or rapid traverse on compact lathes. Compatibility with BL and PREX motor families lets the same power stage work with either low-inertia or high-torque actuators.
The metal chassis occupies only 60 mm of rack width, extends 325 mm in depth, and rises to 380 mm in height, making multi-axis stacks possible in limited enclosures. The unit weighs just 5.7 kg, and the molded handles help when positioning it beside adjacent modules. A 7-segment LED on the faceplate supplies numeric status codes, while the resident MFP1 card records alarms for local diagnostics. Its slim housing also helps preserve cabinet space for airflow paths, wiring access, and neighboring motion modules.
