Product Description:
The MIV02-1-B1 is an inverter unit manufactured by Okuma as part of the MIV Servo Drives series. Within a machining center, this component sits between the shared DC bus and the servo motor amplifier, switching the link voltage into a controlled, variable-frequency waveform. By doing so, it supplies the commanded current and voltage profile required for closed-loop speed and position control in cutting, drilling, and positioning axes. Because the inverter regulates the motor waveform from the DC bus, the machine control can command rapid changes in torque and direction during contouring moves.
The drive governs a single motion channel, and its circuitry is optimized for single-axis operation, which simplifies feedback routing and parameter handling. Control electronics are energized from a dedicated 24 VDC supply that remains active during main power shutdowns so stored parameters and communication remain available. The power stage draws from a common line of 300 VDC, which supports integration with other converters on the same DC bus. On the L side of the DC link, the unit can furnish up to 2.67 hp of mechanical output, or 2.0 kW in SI units. That output level supports continuous servo duty when the inverter is matched with a suitable motor and load.
The front panel measures only 60 mm in width, while the cooling section extends to a depth of 325 mm, allowing multiple drives to be mounted side by side in a narrow cabinet. The unit has a height of 380 mm, which fits common enclosure layouts while still leaving room for airflow above and below the heat sink. Its mass is held to 5.7 kg, which keeps handling loads modest during mounting and reduces stress on panel hardware. The slim housing also helps preserve access to adjacent wiring paths, bus connections, and ventilation channels in multi-axis servo installations.
