The MIV0202-1-B3 is a dual-axis drive manufactured by Okuma for the MIV Servo Drives series. It serves as the power interface between a CNC motion controller and paired servo motors, regulating motor current so commanded torque and speed values can be reached without excessive overshoot. The unit accepts control signals from the motion system and switches its internal IGBT bridge to operate synchronous or induction motors on machine-tool feed axes. Its backplane connection provides access to a common DC bus and system diagnostics, allowing multiple drive modules to operate within the same modular CNC enclosure.
The power stage is divided into an L-side channel and an M-side channel, allowing the unit to control two separate axes. Each channel is rated for 2.67 hp, which is equivalent to 2.0 kW of continuous mechanical output. Equal channel capacity supports twin axes with similar load requirements and promotes balanced bus-current distribution when both motors accelerate at the same time. Motor compatibility includes the BL motor family and the PREX motor line, giving the drive access to different Okuma servo motor designs used in machine-tool applications. Internal gating, feedback processing, vector control, and protective functions are handled by the ICB1 inverter control board. Electrical isolation between the power and logic sections reduces noise coupling and helps preserve encoder signal stability during rapid acceleration and deceleration cycles.
