Product Description:

The MIV22-1-B5 is an inverter unit produced by Okuma for the MIV Servo Drives series. Acting as the power interface for the manufacturer’s BL/PREX servo motors, the module regulates bus energy for motor operation while exchanging feedback and command data with the machine controller. In CNC machines and automated transfer lines, the drive supplies regulated current, monitors thermal conditions, and reports operating states so that a single servo axis can be coordinated with the rest of the machine tool.

The drive controls one axis and communicates through dedicated Servo, Encoder, and Converter links. Its control electronics are supplied by a 24 VDC source that remains available when the main bus is de-energized for maintenance. The power stage draws energy from a 300 VDC bus and delivers its output through the U, V, and W terminals. Service access is provided from the left because the LED indicator bank is active only on the L-side. The housing has a depth of 325 mm and a width of 150 mm. This footprint allows the unit to fit into compact column enclosures while leaving room for the XT1 and XT2 screw terminals that connect the control and motor power wiring.

The module requires vertical space for its 380 mm height, and cabinet load calculations must account for its mass of 11.2 kg. When connected to an Okuma L-side spindle supply, the inverter can support a spindle drive rated at up to 22 kW. Operating status is shown on a seven-segment LED panel, providing a direct view of drive conditions from the front of the enclosure. The XT1 terminals use M6 coarse-thread wiring lugs, while the XT2 terminals use M8 fine-thread wiring lugs to accommodate standard ring terminals. These separate terminal sizes provide suitable connection points for the control and motor power conductors within the available wiring space.
