The MIV08-3-V1 is an Okuma inverter unit in the MIV Servo Drives series. As a servo-drive component, it converts energy from the machine’s DC link into a regulated three-phase output for synchronous or induction motors in automated machine tools. This function allows the controller to command precise velocity and torque profiles for cutting heads, positioning axes, and spindles within Okuma machining centers. The inverter also works with other components in the associated motion-control platform to coordinate motor operation and exchange status information.
The drive supports an applicable motor capacity of 7.5 kW (10 hp) and has an 11/7.5 kW VAC output rating for dual-rated spindles. Its control electronics are energized by a dedicated 24 VDC rail, whereas the power stage draws energy from a DC bus maintained at 300 VDC. Two AC connector pins carry current through the inverter’s power connections, and the L-side VAC switch provides on-panel isolation during service. For loop tuning, the internal voltage regulator applies a gain of 1/42, supporting predictable phase-locked control when the inverter operates with matching units. The housing weighs 7.3 kg, which permits stable mounting without placing excessive load on the cabinet structure. An error display on the cabinet door reports protective conditions associated with the DC link, control supply, or thermal sensors, allowing the control system to prevent motion until normal operating conditions are restored.
