Okuma’s MIV08DB-1-B5 is an inverter unit in the MIV Servo Drives series that serves as the power interface between the CNC controller and a single servo axis. As an Okuma inverter unit, it converts the shared 300 VDC link voltage into regulated three-phase output for a connected BL or PREX servo motor, allowing precise velocity and position control in machining centers and other automated equipment. The compatible motor range includes standard BL motors as well as high-output PREX models, allowing use across a broad torque range.

The drive delivers a rated continuous capacity of 7.5 kW (10 hp), so it can maintain that mechanical power during sustained production runs. It draws its main bus energy from a 300 VDC supply while ancillary logic circuits operate from a separate 24 VDC control line; isolating these sources helps protect the control electronics from load transients. An inverter control board marked ICB1 manages pulse-width modulation and fault detection, and it communicates over dedicated servo, encoder, and converter links to coordinate current, speed, and position loops. Because the unit is built for 1 axis, parameter sets and alarms are addressed to a single motor channel, which keeps control assignments straightforward.
