The MIV06-3-V1 is an Okuma inverter unit in the MIV Servo Drives series. It works as the power interface between an Okuma CNC control and a matched VAC motor, converting DC link energy into the regulated three-phase output required for precise axis motion. By modulating voltage and frequency in real time, the drive supplies commanded torque and speed so a machining axis can follow the position loop generated by the control system. Because the output is regulated continuously, the control can maintain stable motion during contouring, feed changes, and position correction.
This model uses a 1-axis configuration, so its internal power stage serves one servo loop. Drive logic is handled by an ICB3 control board that contains the gate drivers, signal conditioning circuits, and onboard memory. The electronics receive isolated logic power from a 24 VDC source, while the main converter is connected to a 300 VDC bus supplied by the machine rectifier stack. Separating the low-voltage control supply from the DC power section helps the control circuitry remain stable during switching events. When paired with an L-side VAC motor, the unit can deliver up to 6.0 kW of continuous mechanical output. Dual cooling fans move air across the heat sink to keep junction temperatures within limits during rapid interpolation and deceleration.
