Product Description:

The MIV0104-1-B5 is an Okuma inverter unit from the MIV Servo Drives series. Designed for multi-axis machining centers, the drive interfaces with the machine controller to convert DC-bus energy into regulated three-phase output for each connected motor. It supports BL motors and PREX motors, allowing high-speed and high-torque spindles to operate on the same platform. By combining two inverter channels inside one housing, the unit simplifies wiring and reduces the amount of panel space required in automated production lines.

The unit provides dual-axis control. Its control electronics are supplied by 24 VDC, while the power stage draws from a 300 VDC common bus shared with other MIV modules. The left-side inverter delivers 1.0 kW, or 1.33 hp, of continuous power. The M-side channel is rated at 4.0 kW, or 5.3 hp, for heavier loads. Servo, encoder, and converter links pass through the backplane to transfer position data and gating signals without extra cabling. An ICB1 control board governs switching patterns, and the speed monitor produces an output corresponding to 1,562 rpm per volt for real-time velocity feedback. A torque monitor references peak torque at 3 V so the CNC can compare demand with the available drive effort.

The aluminum enclosure is 100 mm wide, 380 mm high, and 325 mm deep, allowing the drive to fit between standard 125 mm bus bars and ventilation ducts. With a mass of 7.8 kg, the unit can be moved during cabinet service without specialized lifting equipment. The enclosure provides clearance above and below the heat sink for forced-air cooling. Its narrow profile also keeps motor leads short, which helps minimize electrical noise affecting the encoder channel. These dimensions support installation in Okuma control cabinets where available panel space and cooling clearance are limited.
